The Circus itself is a front, as many units are also well-versed assassins. Many units have European names, especially from languages of Anglo-Saxon and Slavic origin. Many units take after performing roles, such as animal tamers, jugglers, sentient props, and even beasts themselves. The Pale Moon Circus is based around real world circuses and theatrical productions. Pale Moon's playstyle primarily focuses on calling rear-guards from the soul. One theory states that the members of "Pale Moon" are scattered in all places of Cray, and rumours tell that they can destroy a nation from within if they have the intention. The ostensible records of their battles are deleted by someone, and their full combat strength is a total unknown. The group is shrouded in many mysteries, and their combat strength is the most concerned part. Now, "Pale Moon" is more seen on the public stage and display brilliant performances. Some teams focusing on performances, like the " Silver Thorn" led by the Millenium Elf " Luquier", while others focus on assassination, of which members have combat-specialised psychic abilities. That said, the assassination business has not been abolished completely, and there are two different kinds of teams. Thousands of years have passed, and now they pay more attention to the circus business, and members had changed a lot. Nonetheless, as the group traveled around the world for assassinating important people, their popularity has grown gradually, and has become "the best circus of Cray". According to spoken lores, "Pale Moon" started as a mere assassination group, and the business of circus was nothing more than its cover, only performed stealthily. A veteran elf of the group claimed that "we have histories beyond millenia", but since "Dark Zone" had little interest in the past, there was no official record to prove the claim. The best trick-performing group of planet Cray-the magical circus "Pale Moon". The Reality of "Pale Moon", the Magical Circus with the Longest History in Cray The magic and psychic powers, and the dangerous weapons and beasts, are not only decorations on the stage, but tools to wipe out intruders who dare to grope for the secrets of Dark Zone like magic tricks. Nevertheless, behind the scene, they are merciless assassins. They give touring shows all over the world, and win popularity with extraordinarily high level of performing skills and performances of magic. A crash means restarting, rebuilding your bomber, and replaying the first half of what can be a tough 20-minute mission, and doing that a few times in a row is frustrating. In hindsight it’s clear, but it takes some trial and error to figure out.īut because the missions take place in real-time and you can’t save mid-mission, failure can feel like a major setback. Maybe if I had sent the engineer to revive a downed crewman instead, that crewman could have fixed the hydraulics, allowing the turrets to defend the bomber and preventing the engineer from dying long enough to fix the engine, and keeping the plane aloft. Gravity then took its natural course, and my bomber crashed shortly after, leaving me to consider what I’d done wrong. I sent my engineer to repair the engines, but he fell to his death when the next attack blew a hole in the plane. In one mission, my hydraulic systems broke, which meant my turrets couldn't aim at enemies, who promptly took advantage of that fact and set fire to my engines. Higher-level missions are daunting because a single mistake can doom your crew. Victory is a matter of experimenting with combinations of upgrades or running easier alternative missions that can make the challenging ones easier. Slow, piston-engined fighters are eventually replaced by rocket-powered enemies that are much harder to hit and can chew up a poorly defended bomber in a matter of seconds. Hello everyone, you guys have helped me a lot recently so I wanted to share this with you before it's too late. Not hugely helped by some pallid numbers from André Previn, this soufflé never quite rose. Instead she moved to the South Bank for Tom Stoppard's reworking of a Molnár frivol as Rough Crossing (National Theatre, 1984), cast as a volatile musical-comedy star on a transatlantic voyage. Unhappily, St Just subsequently refused to approve Gish's casting for a projected Cat on a Hot Tin Roof production. Audiences - in the words of Elia Kazan, Streetcar's first director - gradually became aware of "sitting in on the death of something special". Her scenes with Clare Higgins as her sister Stella became the nexus of the evening, which, especially in the heart-wrenching closing scene, became, fascinatingly, a tragedy of two women. In the event Gish's Blanche was a stunner in a series of gossamer, filmy costumes she seemed like some rare, exotic moth doomed to destruction in a brutish modern America, but she grasped, too, the fierce tensile core of Williams's riven heroine and, most potently, mined a revelatory vein of comedy, on occasions self-mocking, on others dangerous, as in her teasing of Stanley Kowalski. Fortunately, Greenwich had a cast-iron contract with Williams's New York agent with the author's approval, and also Gish had received a letter from Williams written shortly before his death in which he had said how good he thought she would be as his most complex creation. Williams's imperious literary executor Maria St Just - who had taken strongly against Gish during Vieux Carré - with no little determination attempted to prevent the casting, claiming that the dramatist would never have approved it and that he had considered Gish "a poor actress". On a simple smoked-mirrored set Gish, dressed equally simply and stylishly in a Fortuny gown, was a revelation to many, riveting as Racine's love-consumed queen, phrasing and measuring her long Alexandrine cadenzas with a musician's subtlety and communicating a genuinely tragic sense of a personality disintegrating in despair.Īfter a disappointing Uncle Vanya (Haymarket, 1982) - her late-night scene as Yelena to Frances de la Tour's Sonya was the emotional highspot of an evening altogether too low in amperage - Gish seized the chance to tackle a part she had coveted, Blanche du Bois in Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire (Greenwich, 1983 and Mermaid, 1984), just after the playwright's death. She worked hard on her voice in particular in preparation for this, finding an impressive lower register and considerably extending its range. They began with the demanding and rarely off-the-stage title role in Bérénice (Lyric Hammersmith Studio, 1982). Gish was impressive in all her roles (for which she won the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Performance), especially fine as a local dignitary resplendent in fuchsia silk and picture-hat in Gosforth's Fête, a sublimely funny miniature farce, which saw her snooty condescension reduced to muddied hysteria by a combination of a thunderstorm, marauding boy scouts, a malfunctioning tea-urn and a malignly short-circuiting microphone. Her performance in a touring farce opposite Ronnie Corbett brought her to the attention of the impresario Michael Codron Gish was his canny suggestion for Alan Ayckbourn's Confusions (1975), in which a quintet led by John Alderton and Pauline Collins rang versatile changes from pathos to rumbustious comedy through five short plays. If you see something that doesn’t look right, Contact Us.During her daughters' childhoods, Gish for a time restricted her career primarily to television work with the occasional film role she played a cameo role in Darling (1965), in which Curram played a major part, for the director John Schlesinger, a family friend. When one talks about “accounting,” they often implicitly refer to one or more of various distinct financial processes:īookkeeping. And using it for yourself is a simple and powerful process you can use to drive your entire financial life. The fact is, the double-entry method is a basic technique that everyone should have been taught in high school. This document attempts to explain what command-line bookkeeping is about in concrete terms, what you will get out of doing it, how the various software pieces fit together, and what kinds of results you can expect from this method. Usually they end up thinking it is too complicated to actually get started with. They might think it is a system to support investment portfolios, or something that I use to curate a budget like a stickler. Finally, there are those who get really excited about the idea of using a powerful accounting system but who don’t actually understand what it is that I’m talking about. They have at least 20 accounts to their name it’s only when we go through the details that they realize that their financial ecosystem is more complex than they thought. These are most often blissfully unaware how many accounts they have and have only an imprecise idea of where they stand. Other times, after I describe my process I get incredulous reactions: “Why do you even bother?” Those are the people who feel that their financial life is so simple that it can be summarized in 5 minutes. Sometimes I hear echoes of desperation about their own finances: many people wish they had a better handle and understanding of their finances, they sigh and wish they were better organized. When I tell people about my command-line accounting hacking activities, I get a variety of reactions. But then you actually listen to the songs instead of remembering all the times you heard them on your local classic rock radio station, and you understand the band’s greatness. The band covered "Farmer's Daughter" at the request of Buckingham, who deemed the Brian Wilson tune obscure enough to include on the album. "Don't Let Me Down Again" is a song from the Buckingham Nicks album and was actually recorded earlier than the rest of the tracks - the recording was made in 1975 in Passaic. Various very similar takes from a recording session have emerged on bootlegs, and at least two separate vocal tracks featuring Nicks can be heard on the version released on Live. It would appear that "Fireflies" is also actually a studio demo from the same time. Her lyrics referred to band members as the "five fireflies." "The Farmer's Daughter" appears to have actually been recorded at The Village Recorders studio where Tusk was recorded despite the liner notes - it appears in the Tusk re-release of 2004 nearly identical sans crowd noise. "Fireflies" was Nicks' rumination on the tumultuous recording of the "Tusk" album and her observance that the band stayed intact nevertheless. The latter two were released as singles "Fireflies" reached the top 60 in the US, while "The Farmer's Daughter" reached the top 10 in Austria. Of particular note are three new songs - Christine McVie's "One More Night", Stevie Nicks' "Fireflies", and a well-harmonized backstage rendition of The Beach Boys' "The Farmer's Daughter". According to the liner notes, two songs were recorded at a Paris soundcheck and three at a performance at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium "for an audience of friends and road crew." Richard Dashut, Ken Caillat & Fleetwood Mac Ozymandias is the greek name for the Egyptian Pharoah Ramesses II. The final caesura repeats this effective trick, following 'Nothing beside remains.' This short, grammatically complete and isolated sentence stands within the poem like the statue in the desert.īy contrast, much of the rest of the poem is formed of long, complicated sentences that stretch on and on, like the desert or time itself. The second caesura comes after 'Stands in the desert.' The very final full stop and ending of the sentence reinforces the sense of isolation surrounding these strange, ruined legs. The pause here mimics the traveller's intake of breath before telling his story, dramatising the moment as well as creating distance between the description of the statue and the poet's retelling, almost as if recalling from memory. The first falls after 'Who said:' in the second line. Shelley uses several within the poem and each one has significant effects. CaesuraeĪ caesura is a break of meaning and rhythm within a line. The 'colossal wreck' simply refers to the statue again 'colossal' means 'giant', with a particular reference to giant statues like the Colossus of Rhodes and 'wreck' means anything that has been broken or ruined. Both 'boundless and bare' and 'the lone and level sands' use alliteration to remain memorable - as does the sneer of 'cold command'. Shelley coined several other powerful phrases in this poem and the final lines have entered the language and have been used for the titles of several books and games. It could imply that his subsequent obscurity was a punishment from God - a subject that Shelley considered in several of his other poems. Ozymandias calls himself 'king of kings' - a phrase taken from Biblical language - which smacks somewhat of arrogant pride. The poem is written in iambic pentameter, but there are several variations in the pattern, including reversed first feet ('Nothing beside remains' and 'Tell that its sculptor…'). In this sonnet, the first part sets up the frame narrative and then describes the statue and the second part ironically relates the king's words and adds the final description of the desert setting. Most sonnets break into two parts: an 'octet' (the first eight lines) and a 'sextet' (the last six lines), with the second part commenting on the first. The poem is a sonnet - a fourteen-line single stanza form that originated in Italian love poetry and that was popularised in England by Shakespeare. The lone and level sands stretch far away. Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Half-sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frownĪnd wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone The description of the statue is a meditation on the fragility of human power and on the effects of time. Shelley's poem imagines a meeting between the narrator and a 'traveller' who describes a ruined statue he - or she - saw in the middle of a desert somewhere. |
